Royal Enfield Bullet, eh!

Writing in after a decade and stirring up what is an eternal debate amongst the Indian motorcycle community. But then this is my blog and I have all the rights to praise or dismiss any product/person/incident, so all you eue-brow raisers can eat my arse!
Ok, so whats the deal with the Bullet? I mean really, my small little 150cc Honda goes faster, handles better, returns greater fuel efficiency, brakes better and is thousandth time more reliable than the 350cc metal fat arses which roll out of the Chennai manufacturer's obsolete gates. I didnot buy a tractor to trail 150kgs of luggage when touring, I bought a frigging motorcycle. Its not without reason that the British motorcycle companies got wiped out by the Japanese whilst the Italians managed to hold on their own.
Pro-Bulleeters argue that Bullet is not about tyre screeching performance, its not about speed, its all about the presence, the old world charm, bla bla and multiple more blas. Well, what they forget that a motorcycle is mostly about, going around that corner faster, no breaking down anywhere and everywhere, not leaking oil like a sick bitch and definitely not costing more than its worth. Yep, I come from a Bulleeter family but all these bullcrap (by most Bulleeters) are simply an offense on the motorcycle which was an essential "trials bike" in UK. Heck, 95% of the present day Bulleeters do not even know that and think the Bullet is a cruiser.
I say, you must be pretty retarded to buy a Bullet and more to ride one. And you vouch for one, someone must surely send you to Guantanomo bay and meet Big Bob.

haha..hey you must be pretty hard done by a bullet to say all this..something that brands build is CHARACTER..that what a bullet has..can you say that about any other comparable one in the indian industry, going by your logic jap superbikes would have obliterated the harleys in the US..but they did not....why? its about CHARACTER its about attitude its about lifestyle...... and will always remain like it or not..want it or not. According to you it leaks oil, is slower that you 150cc and blah blah.. and i ask.."AND SO".. :)

and BTW most of the non performance about bullets is also crap..like you crap a lot of other things about a bullet, have you actually owned one. It is the easiest bikes to repair..you get parts at all road side mechanics..Jugaads work well with it. i dont crap about your bike..i know its technically superior..its faster..its all the Jazz but ...hey i dont complain, congrats to you on making that choice. But something irks you about a bullet..wonder what that is? :) despite you owing a gem and the bullet wala a piece of metal crap :) tell me more :)

Hey,

While I agree that bullets leak oil and are generally not very reliable, I don't agree that they're all crap and that owning a motorcycle is all about taking corners at high speeds. If that is what motorcycling is for you, you'd be much better off with a Jap.

Buy and own a bullet only if you think that the journey is more fun than the destination, that speed doesn't matter and the best part of the journey is the fact that you're riding a bullet. If you forget the last bit even for a second, the bike will bite you :-) You'll have a breakdown in the middle of nowhere and you will never be able to get out of the jungle :-)

Yes, I am a fanboy and yes, I'll trade my bullet for a triumph or ducatti or even a Ural anyday. But thats life. We bulleteers own bullets not because its perfect, but because its nothing like that ! Go figure :-)

Some people just cannot understand beauty and you are one of them. I have seven motorcycles in my garage starting from my very own precious Royal Enfield and ending at the bigges Goldwing(hope you have heard the name 150 cc punk)midiating with a BMW K1200S. Well not trying to show off my motorcycles just trying to tell you that if you cannot appericiate the beauty of the royal enfield you still have a very long way to go motorcycling. Hope you get there punk.

Ahem... the dude is bad mouthing a legend... Did your Dad putter around on a piddly asswipe Jap Bike? In all liklihood, No. I reckon he thumped proudly on a 350cc.

Remember this:

A Bike will disrespect you if you dis her (even your Piddly Ass 150cc Jap Bike knock off included)

As for oil leaks and niggles, you tend to learn to love the character of the bike. I bet your Jap Bike does not even know the word Character, leave aside the meaning or the spelling.

So what if you can scream at 130+ on the highways... brake better, have no oil leaks... how different are you from the gazillion others who ride the 150cc crotch rockets? You ride a Bullet and you command respect. Dunno if you ever had the privilege of being treated like Royalty just coz you ride an Enfield (Most likely Not coz of the 150cc screamer), but I have and I am proud to ride an Enfield.

I have two of them as a matter of fact. Twice the problems but all worth the money and the time spent tinkering with them. atleast my bikes have a character... unlike your 150cc puke.

Do you see any Bulleteer bad mouth your crappy ride? Then why rant about the Enfield? We respect all riders we meet and their rides... no questions asked. But I feel a niggling sense of feeling of incompetence towards your bike from your end...

Perhaps you are ruing the fact that you had the option of buying an Enfield but decided to go with the plasticky, shiny, 150cc screamer just coz it got the girls to look at you twice... and notice you on the third look if they ever gave that...

Dude...it clearly shows that you are pissed off because you have a much 'better' ride than the bull, and still that old bugger commands all the respect. Cornering, speed duh..!!...grow and be a man :D

funny to see the bullet owning idiots defending their bike .

no reliability
no power
no handling or braking
no tech or features
no road presence [ ppl stare at it coz its so ugly and sounds like a tractor not because of some brand or name]

ppl respect bullet n its riders due to Pity as the owners have to keep scavenging for parts ,fixing things etc .

Its silencer looks like a belan [object used for making rotis ]

The dumb wannabes buy this and put those irritating loud fart cans thinking how macho thay look and believe it looks like a Harley .

i can go on and on ........
